Recycling at Western State Colorado University

The goal of the 3R's Committee (Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle) is to have less than 5 percent of recyclable items in our waste that goes to the landfill. Before putting anything into a trash bin, ask yourself, "Can I recycle this?"

WSC Recycling Guidelines

Acceptable Materials

  • Office pack: white and colored papers; no neon or manilla folders.
    These items may be included in the office indoor receptacles: (pickup Tuesday and Friday)
  • Plastic #1 and #2 ONLY; please check number and empty contents
  • Aluminum cans
  • Magazines and newspapers

  • Glass: clear, green and brown; please empty contents

  • Cardboard: flat or corrugated. Pizza delivery boxes are accepted. Waxed cardboard is not.

  • Electronics (please see information below)

 Unacceptable Materials

  • Waxed papers

  • Plastics #3-#7
  • Overnight mail packaging

  • Phonebooks

  • Plastic bags

Electronic Recycling

Western State Colorado University offers electronic recycling for students, faculty and staff through Metech Recycling, which does not practice landfill dumping or third-world exporting. Read more about their practices here......

Please drop off any unwanted items to Facilities, located north of the football practice fields.
